Typically a large shrub, this subspecies of Holly-leaf Cherry has more of a tree-like habit. The leaves are broader and not as stiff or spiny as the species. White flower clusters in late spring. The black fruits attract birds. Native to California's Channel Islands. Drought tolerant. Frequently used as a hedge.
